Notes from Mrs. Cockfield:Dear Families, I hope you are staying warm. It has been so cold. You can thank my husband for the lack of snow because he bought our first snowblower this year! We are happy to accomodate those of you who don’t like snow! While it’s cold outside, our classroom is toasty and warm! We are all reading up a storm. We are trying to improve our stamina. We keep adding minutes to our independent reading time. Many students are earning reading star of the day! We are practicing all of our reading skills during this time. Mrs. Demers stopped by with her Reading Detective Badge and checked in to see how we are doing. During writing we are wrapping up our teaching book unit. We showed we are experts on many things. We learned to give an introduction, teach, teach, teach and then write a conclusion. Your children are doing great things! Math is tricky right now. We are learning to measure and then figure out how much longer or shorter different objects are from what we measured. This is getting easier but has taken some time for us to understand what we are trying to solve and to be able to show our thinking. We have started adding suffixes to words. We add an s when we have more than one of something. Sometimes that s sounds like and s and sometimes it sounds like a z. Our class is going to Mrs. Anderson’s room now for science. We are learning about Animal and Plant Defenses. The class is very excited for more learning! ~Mrs. Becky Cockfield If you have any questions, please email me at my usual address: [email protected] |
